Rajasthani Mirchi Vada Recipe-Mirchi vada-Mirchi ka Pakoda-Mirchi Bhajji-Easy Tea Time Snack by Madhura’s Kitchen



This is a popular Rajasthani recipe and it goes as a great appetizer. It is prepared with the filling of potato in chili peppers coated with chick pea flour and deep fried. Enjoy this Mirchi vada.

Ingredient list
For Stuffing

2 Large Potato
1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
1/2 tsp Green Chili
1 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Chat Masala
1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
Pinch of Hing / Asafetida
1/4 cup Coriander Leaves
Salt to taste
For Batter

3/4 cup Besan / Chickpea Flour
Pinch of Hing / Asafetida
Salt to taste
Pinch of Baking Soda

Method
For Stuffing
Take boiled potatoes. Peel and roughly mash the potatoes.
Add roasted cumin powder, finely chopped green chili, coriander powder, chat masala, red chili powder, hing, chopped coriander leaves and salt to taste. Mix the stuffing well.
Take chili pepper. Wash and dry the chilies.
Make a slit through the chilies and remove all the seeds from the chili. While giving a slit please make sure to keep the stem part of the chili intact.
Stuff the chilies with the aloo mixture. Keep the chilies aside
For Batter
Take chick pea flour / besan.
Add hing, salt to taste, baking soda. Mix it well.
Add water and stir the mixture for 5-6 minutes so that the mixture becomes fluffy and light. The batter is ready.
Frying
Take a pan. Add oil to it and heat it on medium heat.
Take the stuffed chilies and dip it in the chick pea batter. Take care to coat the chili with batter from all sides including the stem.
Put the stuffed and coated chilies into hot oil. Let the chilies fry till they turn deep golden color from all sides. The vada is ready.
It is a good appetizer. It goes well as chat item. Just serve it with curd and mint coriander chutney and some spices.
